Geo. Washington and the Continental Army

There was an interesting news piece that ran on NBC news on Thursday. It talked about the recent discovery of the location of George Washington's boyhood home and how excited archeologists were about discovering more about the place Washington grew up.

As the story continues to unfold about men like Washington, Hamilton, Jefferson, etc...you truly get to see how the stars aligned for all of these men to come together and be the founding fathers of America.

Yes. Even holding slaves was an evidence of weakness for him. He clearly was opposed to slavery, but he was in a bad financial position and relied on slavery to help him improve his finances (while continuing to spend huge amounts of money on items he didn't need).

This isn't to denigrate the man. He was also one of the most brilliant, if not the most brilliant, politicians this country has ever seen and did some exceptional things for the country and for democracy.
