I have no idea...it just seems to me that the conference wouldn't be to pleased if this kind of thing happened...not that it ever will, but it's interesting to talk about.

It would certainly feed some egos, that's for sure.

I can't really believe any of you seriously think it would be good for BYU to go independent or join the WAC.
Join the WAC for what the ESPN deal?? BYU was one of the big pushers to get out of the ESPN deal and now they want to go back to it, I don't think so. Independent? You might have a decent schedule the beginning of the year, a couple of BCS teams, but once you get into the season no one from a regular conference is going to want to play you. ND on a regular basis dream on. Only way that happens is if ND continues to suck. No chance at a conference championship. Let's be honest here. With the schedules we have if there wasn't a conf. championship available a lot of people would have lost interest about now. Maybe we could get more money though out of some local TV deal. Great, that would last for a couple of years and then interest would die out. It would be like giving donors two generations of great seating at LES. Short term good, long term bad. Now I will change my mind if someone can give me a viable schedule we could get. Please don't factor in your own visions of grandeur and what a great national draw BYU is. Give me the schedule with no BCS teams after the 3rd week and no MWC or WAC teams after the fourth week. IF we pull out of the MWC and the way we pulled out of the WAC, those schools and especially fans would love to do nothing more than see us float down the toilet. |

What about a schedule that looks like this?
UCLA Washington Texas A&M Navy Notre Dame E. Washington Boise State TCU Army Hawaii Utah TCU could be a different MWC team. Boise St could be any number of WAC teams. I think you can get BCS games for the first 4 games. So I am being conservative with just putting 3 there. Navy, Army, and Notre Dame are indepdendents, and even without Notre Dame on the schedule, I think it is still a good schedule. |

The thing I take away is that ND only plays two non-BCS teams: Navy and Air Force. BYU should be able to schedule some of the better WAC, CUSA and MWC teams in the 2nd half. I see no reason why they can't. |
