Certainly talking about one of the best books ever written, I have never even seen the movie.
Pardon my ignorance, but to which book are you referring?

Catch-22 and it comes with my highest recommend on books to read. Five books get this recommend Catch-22, Slaughterhouse 5, Breakfast of Champions, Invisible Man (Ralph Ellison), and Moneyball.

I wanted to name my third son Senator Manic Panic. My theory is that a kid named Senator Manic Panic is either going to be a great artist, a CEO of a Fortune 500 company, or a derelict. But, with two kids in the can, I figured we could roll the dice on number three. My wife, being the reasonable person that she is, vetoed the idea. Go figure.

I agree that Breakfast of Champions is a great book (what kind of man would turn his daughter into an outboard motor?) but IMO it can only be truly enjoyed if one has read the majority of Vonnengut's earlier books. As you may know, BOC was Vonnegut's self-proclaimed last novel. While he has written numerous novels since then, they have been uneven and short of the standard he set earlier in his career. So, in some ways, BOC was his last novel. Kind of.

So it goes.

Back on topic, a friend of mine's last name is Lipschitz. I don't care what your first name is, nothing makes Lipschitz sound better.

I actually agree that you probably should not start with Breakfast of Champions as your first Vonnegut book. I always thought a good start was Slaughterhouse 5.

On my mission I met a family who had a ridiculous number of children. Their presumed last child was a boy who they named Aldon as in All Done. A year later to the shock of the couple she became pregnant once more. This child was indeed the last and they named her Surprise, because she certainly was.

There's a guy at work named Larry Licker. He likes to tell people that when he was in the army he was called Private Licker. He always says, "I'm just glad I never joined the Navy."

Spell it with a "z" and you'd spell it correctly.

Good one.
