Not to discount that something may be happening on a national level, but you have to look at state by state polls to see if anything is really happening. It could be that shift is occuring in states that are not close. The national number really means very little because it's not a popular vote.

I'm going to guess that Tex is familiar with the electoral system.

I think he was just curious what would account for the movement, not necessarily implying that the presumed outcome has changed.
