Mayeb not physically, but I think you do psychologically, but that is just me. Of course, for the way I rdie, a freeway overpass is a mountain, so what do I know.

what do I know, I've never ridden up a mountain. but people more experienced than me tell me you don't need mountains to train for mountains.
Elevation, though, would make the mountains a better place to train I think. |

Elevation certainly makes a difference, that's why so many of those guys sleeop in hyberbaric chambers (or whatever they're called) during training to try to induce natural hematocrit levels to rise. In my mind, there is a big difference between training for a hill or to ride hills, and riding up little cottonwood canyon, or hautaucam or some such. I mean in between the ears it makes a difference.

No votes for Hincapie yet. Hmmm. Speaks volumes. I would bet most here are just Columbia-haters (likely the country and the company).

I love big george, but his best days are behind him and he is now on the descent into coaching, book writing or commentating (hopefully he speaks a european language). He just does not have the legs to get over the top on the olympic field.

I would have gone with George after Levi. Because George is known more as a classics rider than a tour rider. But Levi just seems that much stronger and Christian should be weakened by the Tour.
