I seem to have it in my memory banks from long ago hearing that only God knows when his son will return to the Earth. Now, I'm not sure if I heard it in seminary, Sunday School, a Sacrament Meeting talk, a talk from a GA during General Conference, EQ or a Magic 8 ball.

Anyone else ever hear this?
It's in the NT. Matthew 24:36

"But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only."

Here's what always puzzled me about that scripture: How can Christ simultaneously know the future and yet not know when he is coming back?

It's entirely possible that Christ has been told by the Father in the 2,000 years since that scripture.

LOL, that was my thought as well.

Imagine how confusing that must be for believers in the Trinity. Christ knows the future, doesn't know when he is coming back, knows when he is coming back, but won't tell himself.

That's my original point. It says "day and hour". What about year? Granted this is somewhat in jest. But it brings up an interesting point regarding how literal to take that.

After how much time of no second coming does the LDS Church lose all credibility calling itself "Latter Day Saints"? Two hundred years? More?

Even if you accept the '6,000 year theory', 177/6011 is still the 97th percentile of the human timeline. Doesn't that still put us in the latter days and will continue to do so for quite a long time?

If you converted that to a 24 hour clock, it would put the beginning of the church at 11:18PM.

SU, be careful! The murderous Mormon God is after you. As luck would have it, he needs lightning to kill you. Apparently he is out of sword wielding boy prophets.
