Woohoo! It's good to know that there is someone on this planet dumb enough to consider me an intellectual.

In all fairness, he didn't say Jeff Lebowski, just Jeff. I think you still have to wait before celebrating. He could have meant Warren Jeffs, Bill "Jeff" Clinton, Jeff Airplane, Thomas Jeff, or Mr. T (who reportedly prefers to go by "Jeff").

I was excited for my inclusion until I noticed he was talking about CaliCoug, not Cali Coug. I was hoping his spacebar was just broken, but I think I am also out of luck.

Start by telling us what you think an intellectual is. This is the first step, grasshopper.

Fourth, you must use a power point when preparing your EQ or High Priest lesson.

Fifth, you must learn to profane.

Sixth, you must acquire an affinity for Diet Coke.

Seventh, you must learn to like European things.

Eighth, you must acquire an affinity for beautiful women, but couch your appreciation in terms of artistic expression.

Ninth, you may never use short sentences when long, verbose sentences will suffice.

Tenth, you must laugh at yourself and change you avatar, that self-portrait bothers as I fear you might be dying for lack of oxygen.

Again these come to me from a true intellectual, I'm not certain they will actually help.

I'm so close on this one! I'm already doing all of those except liking European things and not laughing at myself. Oh wait, I don't prepare for Sunday school, or have multiple translations.......I always wear a tie.......never mind.

The whole purpose was to get enough info from those that are already intellectuals help me to recognize how/when/if I attain intellectual status.

What I think is irrelevant, because I don't possess enough perspective on the matter.

Of course the (witting or unwitting) crux of Indy's little joke is that it's funny someone should think it takes an intellectual to make the rational common sense points made here by Rocky's "intellectuals." To Rocky, an "intellectual" is anyone who who shakes up his pastoral little view of Mormonism. I once knew an old man who spent 99.999999999% of his life in his home town, Gunnison, Utah. He had a similar use for the word "psychalelic"--any part the modern culture that was foreign to him or made him uncomfortalbe he called psychadelic, until he died in 1999. He had no idea what the word meant.

I need a dictionary to read most of Archaea's post so I'm sure I will never get there. I'm content to remain a simple person from a small town that sells potatoes for a living.
