I liked it that he wasn't a perfect pretty boy. He actually looks like the few spies I've met. They are not pretty boys. He looks like somebody who could knock off a few villians.

I only care that the Bond girls are gorgeous. Bond can be as ugly as he can be.

Bond isn't a fashion model. He's a covert agent. And this Bond can blend into a crowd believably.

You guys apparently want a cartoon or super action hero.

Can't comment on the movie, haven't seen it yet (though this is the first Bond movie that I'd be interested in seeing), but I think Daniel Craig is hot. The combo of ruggedness and implied intelligence makes him hot.

Guess I am not being very clear. I couls not be more enthusiastically positive in my review of the movie. It was great and Craig is also great. I think Felming's Bond looked more sophisticated, But Craig pulls it off.

Btw, Mike, good looks doesn't amkle this a cartoon, surfing the face of a wave created by the collapse of a glacial wall makes it a cartoon. As you now, this movie reverses that trend and is well done.

Thoroughly enjoyed it! I will admit to being a Bond aficionado –it is my lone guilty pleasure. This movie now ranks up there with my two favorites –You only live Twice and Thunderball. Gold Finger is overrated. A couple of Moore movies are also woefully underrated namely Live and let Die and the Man with the Golden Gun.

As to the end of the movie does anyone have any notions as to what story line, that is essential to older Bond movies and has been lost for too many years, has be reintroduced?

I thought the ending was brilliant –that is if my suspicions are correct!

I agree. It was a bit of a struggle to accept him as Bond, but watching the movie, he pulled it off perfectly. He was a good pick for Bond. I like his ruggedness.

Casino Royale is a good Bond film. It fits rather well into the pattern of the films as well. Right after the series goes over the top with cartoonishness and gimmicky technology it retools with more espionage and drama. After the goofiness of You Only Live Twice (A space ship eating other space ships and a villain base in a volcano) we got the gritty On Her Majesty's Secret Service. After the absurdity that was Moonraker we got For Your Eyes Only. After Die Another Day we get Casino Royale.

Are you saying that you didn't like the return of Jaws?

It sounds like I need to see this one. I've yet to see a Bond film that I didn't like.

Moonraker is probably my least favorite Bond film. It starts as a paint by numbers film but then degenerates into a paradoy, and finally, into a poor attempt at space opera.

How can you call You Only Live Twice goofy? It elevated the stakes with regards to villainy in the already utterly cartoonish world that is a Bond film.

Gritty? On Her Majesty's Secret Service was awkward and clumsy and … a snoozer. Oh, and Telly Savalas as the master villian … ?
