I think the best argument for BYU seeking to leave the MWC is to expand its exposure and footprint.

Get BYU into the minds of people in the south and midwest. Forget the west coast, it's a done deal, lost cause.

Their branding probably works better in the Midwest and South, maybe even East Coast. BYU has nothing the Left Coast wants, and probably should abandon its marketing there. Utah will be marketing the Mormon brand any way. It will warm the heart the first time I read a Pac opponent hold up a placard, stating, "Go Back to Provo, and your Mormon wives!"
