No kidding. Arch is fooling himself if he thinks Romney can deliver Mass (or even make it marginally competitive). Romney helps in Nevada and maybe in Colorado (doubt it). But he wouldn't be picked to deliver a state. He would be picked to deliver a group- the conservative base- that isn't too happy with McCain right now and needs a reason to vote for him. Romney has built up a lot of credibility with the base (ironically).

I would bet McCain picks either Romney (if he listens to his advisors) or Giuliani (if he doesn't).

Michigan would certainly be influenced by Romney's presence on the ticket, but is it enough to overcome McCain's presence at the top of the ticket? I doubt it. I think the Dems will hold Michigan, but Romney would make it more competitive.

Polls right now show McCain with a slim lead in Michigan. It's going to be more than competitive there with Romney perhaps helping to put it over the top. Also, Colorado is not a shoo in for Obama by any means. Romney could help there.
