This five point play was the killer for Memphis:
"With Kansas down 9 points at 2:08, Darrell Arthur made a tough 15-footer. Kansas took a timeout and decided it had to keep Memphis’s Chris Douglas-Roberts from getting the ball on the inbounds pass. Unable to get Douglas-Roberts the ball, Antonio Anderson tried to lob a pass to Rose, but Sherron Collins stole the ball and made a 3-pointer from the corner to cut the lead to 4 from 7." From the NY Times article by Pete Thamel. Until then, Memphis was in control, Kansas was as good as dead. After that sequence, it was a ballgame, anybody's game. Memphis should have kept its boot heel on Kansas' throat, and it never would have come down to making free throws.

Memphis tried to foul but the refs did not call it.

When death becomes the center of our consciousness, then religion authentically begins. Of all religions that I know, the one that most vehemently and persuasively defies and denies the reality of death is the original Mormonism of the Prophet, Seer and Revelator, Joseph Smith. |
