You obviously don't trust JFS, so do you think he's lying, misrepresenting, mistaken? And what if Joseph Smith actually did say it as reported ... what do you think of such a prophecy?

If JS predicted it, I wonder what atmospheric phenomenom would cause such an event.

I'm not exactly certain what refractive properties of in the atmosphere actually cause a rainbow and therefore what atmospheric changes would be required to block it. It sounds like a global warming or pollution. OTOH, since it's not a core doctrine, JS could be wrong and just speculating.
