I wonder why. If that ideal is so unattractive, why are so many women bent on becoming the nonideal partner.
Maybe they don't ever see themselves being single again and when it does happen they will be about 60 with plenty of insurance money to spend.

But then they act so surprised, hurt and betrayed when their hubbies leave them or go looking for it elsewhere.

If I remember correctly, you began dating the hot babysitter very shortly after the separation.

I had the same way state of mind, in the sense that right after separating, I felt like I could have married one of a number of girls and been happy. At the time I had a very pro-marriage mindframe, i.e. put the wife's needs first, serve her, make time for her, etc.

However as time went on, and as more crap kept happening, I became more and more distant to the idea. Now, 3 1/2 years later, the very thought of being married makes me nauseous.

Men are generally benefitted by becoming rich, staying fit and good looking, and sleeping around.

Women are benefitted by becoming rich, staying fit and good looking and sleeping around.

Where this whole marriage got started I'll never know.

now that we have SS, medicaid, medicare, 401ks and nursing homes, you no longer have to depend on having kids that will help you and prevent you from dying hungry in the streets.

And with Hillary's new magic placebo, Universal Health Care, all your worries can be settled. Just listen to the wicked witch of the East, and you'll be cured of all your problems from cradle to grave.

It's been 4-5 years for me, and at one point I was like you, very open to the idea....now it also makes me nauseous thinking about it.

I liked it when MRD was a St. Louis Rams fan personally.
