why would he need a new rim and hub? in my book, if you buying new rim, hub, and spokes, you are buying a new wheel.
I just don't understand paying someone $100-150 to fix a $50 wheel. Here is a wheel for $65 (I don't know the weight limits if any). http://www.performancebike.com/shop/...tegory_ID=5320 Just the parts will be more than $25 to replace the spokes. Plus labor? If I had expensive wheels with bladed spokes, maybe a different story. |

ALso, byuying a brand new wheel from Perfomance means you will have another wheel that needs to be trued. I ahve bought a few wheels from them over the years and they ALL needed to be trued after I bought them, but before I rode them.

Truing is easy.
Truing stand costs $40. I dont' have one, but my cycling buddy does, as well as my dad. It is a good investment. |

BTW, the wheel builder's name I referred to is actually Jobst Brandt. I edited my messages above so as to avoid confusing anyone.

...and just took it in to their shop. Should be out in one or two days.
I hate waiting...and it should cost me less than $20.00. But, I think I might start looking around for some new wheels. It's quite the dilemma...my bike is about a 2002 model, and seeing all the new bikes and technology...I'm coveting them all and would really like to upgrade from my entry level roadie. |

I have an entry level bike with nice wheels (that I bought later).
They are mavic ksyrium elites (I think they are elites, but I need to check). I'm not sure if they make me faster. but they made me feel better. |

...would love to! Ahhh...the demands of a family. I'm pretty sure though, if I stopped my wife and kids from eating for the rest of the month...I'd have it!
Looks good too, nice selections....I might have to purchase my next bike through them. |
