You're missing part of the entire point --- EASTERN ASSHOLES ARE NOT DOMINANT IN SETTING WESTERN LAND USE POLICY. Western special interests (cattle ranchers; oil and natural gas companies; people like Goatnippie and Wankerman who just hate people from other places) are. And for you to even think that shows how extreme and out of whack you're thinking is.

It's like a child who thinks he's totally oppressed just because his dad asked him to clean up his room -- THE DAD OWNS THE FREAKING ROOM, and just asking you to clean it up a little causes all these hissy-fits. Teenagers.

But they're the constituency. Shouldn't those with the most skin in the game have the most say? Other than some vague notion that the land belongs to all Americans, even though 99.9% of them won't ever visit "their" land, how does this land in reality belong to anyone but the ranchers and oil companies etal?

So did the South prior to the Civil War. The spilled blood to preserve it in Bleeding Kansas and every political compromise prior to the Civil War was aimed at keeping the South's control of the Senate.
