Default How good is this BYU team with Beck....

as the back-up and Ben Olson in his second year as a starter?

I say they are of 10 win quality.

I think the difference this year would be one-two wins.

The real good year would end up being 2008 if Benny had come back to the Y.

BYU does not have the consistent athletes to compete with the good teams. Other than 1980-1985 it never did. But when it has a special qb then it can compete. Beck is good, he is just not special. Hence BYU competes well with middle of the road teams like AZ.

I thought that through 3 quarters, Beck had turned the corner. He seemed poised, and, with no running game he was pretty accurate.

Then, the 4th quarter, the wheels fell off, and we were back to the same old Beck.

I cannot put the loss on Beck's shoulders... but Beck didn't win the game either.

I agree with Goat, Beck is 'good' but not special. BYU needs a special QB to consistently beat great teams.

Beck is a robot a la tooblue.

He has fought through some tough times, but he has no imagination, and is afraid to lose, so he now always takes the safe route.

So Olson who is no more mobile than Beck, probably even less, throwing to the same stable of standout WRs BYU currently employs, behind the wall of impenetrable offensive lineman, and handing off to the backfield burners we have secures for us a 10 win season? LOL.

All this after one game, albeit a great game, by Olson.
