already in the new playoff system BYU is screwed
http://espn.go.com/college-football/...l-playoff-idea
Preference given to conference champions. BYU will be the champion of nothing. Except BYUTV. What a clusterf. |

So I did my own calculations for the 1999-2010 seasons.
Years in which a MWC team finished in the BCS top 6 2004, 2008, 2009, 2010 (in 3 of which the MWC actually fielded a team) Years in which the AQ's did not have 4 conf champions in the top 6: 2001, 2003, 2007, 2010 Number of times each AQ conference fielded a top 6 conference champion: PAC-10: 7 Big 12: 7 Big 10: 6 ACC: 3 Big East: 7 SEC: 7 So hypothetically, we are no worse off now than remaining in the old MWC (with Utah, TCU). We would have equally as likely a chance to go to the BCS as a top 6 Independent as a top 6 MWC champion. Odds are obviously better if we joined a power conference, but more than a third of the time even those conferences would have failed to automatically qualify! (The ACC interestingly has only had a top 6 conf champion 3 times!) So I'm not sure this is such a bad deal for BYU. We just need to win our games.

Wrubell found the same thing I did, but took it a step further, and analyzed Notre Dame's ranking vs the other "non top 6" conference champions in each of those years.
Under the proposed rules, Notre Dame would never have finished high enough in the BCS to beat out a conference champion. This comes as no great surprise to me, since Notre Dame hasn't been that good on balance. But then again, neither has BYU.

I'm not delusional. I don't expect BYU to ever play for the NC. And certainly not under the current regime, with its mediocre schedule, unremarkable game-planning, and mediocre recruiting and player development.

A glance at how this so-called playoff would have fared in recent years, using the final BCS standings:
2011 (1) LSU - conference champion (2) Alabama (3) Oklahoma State - conference champion (4) Stanford (5) Oregon - conference champion (6) Arkansas LSU, OSU and Oregon are in. The debate is whether the fourth team should be Alabama or Stanford, who each lost only one game, to their conference champions. Of course Alabama gets the pick. The only question is how to seed the teams, noting that LSU already played Oregon and Alabama. The BCS title game is probably the same result, Alabama over LSU. 2010 (1) Auburn - conference champion (2) Oregon - conference champion (3) TCU - conference champion (4) Stanford (5) Wisconsin - conference champion (tiebreaker) (6) Ohio State If the pairings are (1) Auburn vs (5) Wisconsin and (2) Oregon and (3) TCU, these would have been more intriguing than what we saw. Oregon's high octane offense vs. TCU's record defense; and Wisconsin's large, bruising offense vs. Auburn's so-called SEC speed. Possibly a different title game. 2009 (1) Alabama - conference champion (2) Texas - conference champion (3) Cincinnati - conference champion (4) TCU - conference champion (5) Florida (6) Boise State - conference champion The only question here is whether Florida is selected over Cincinnati or TCU. The current proposal states that conference champions would be given preference, not that they must be selected. 2008 (1) Oklahoma - conference champion (2) Florida - conference champion (3) Texas - conference champion (4) Alabama (5) USC - conference champion (6) Utah - conference champion We end up with Oklahoma vs USC in the Fiesta, and Florida vs Texas in the Sugar. Probably the same title game result, Florida over Oklahoma. Perhaps Alabama goes to the Orange, while Utah "hosts" Penn State in the Rose. |

Wigan’s new 12/13 away kit has been made by Mi-Fit and was officially unveiled on June 19, 2012 by the Latics. 22football.com’s new 2012/2013 home shirt had already been revealed last month.
Wigan’s new 12/13 away kit is black in colour, as can be seen in the pics below and is again sponsored by 12Bet.com. The Mi-Fit logo and WAFC club crest are both yellow in colour. Scotland star James McArthur is here seen modelling the new Wigan away shirt. |
