Probably psychological...but is this a problem?
During my broken spoke ordeal, I decided it was time to swap out my front tire. Now, my back tire is a 23mm width...but they didn't have the same tire as my back in a 23mm width...only a 25mm width.
I succommed to the sales pressure "shouldn't be any different, even more control perhaps"...but psychologically, it's kind of weirding me out. Knowing it's "bigger" ...or even slower because it's bigger etc. I mean...2mm is like "_" that long...so I don't think it's any big deal. Do any of you have different sized widths on your front tire vs. your back tire? Should I just chill out? "Looks like I picked a bad day to give up amphetemines." |

You're right, you're a weirdo. People will laugh and mock you.

Wait a minute, I want to go ask Fawn Brodie what it is you're feeling REALLY.
SOrry, I just finihsed catching up on that thread. Seriously, there is no real issue except perhaps a minimal amount of perfromance variation. Moreover, different brands and models within brands of tires tend to have different actual measuerments even for the same stated measurment. IOW, not all 23s are the same anyway, so as long as it feels ok you should be all right. That being said, I am running different sized tires on my triple right now and, to tell you the truth, it bugs me even though I don't think it makes any practical difference.

So we can tell our uninformed wives that Size doesn't make a difference?

It's gear related OCD. I suffer from this problem. When a back tire goes I have somehow been programed to believe that I must also buy a matching front tire in order to maintain the karmic balance of my bike.
Sometimes I'm afraid one wheel will feel jealous of the other wheel and pinch flat on me just out of spite. Other times I convince myself that there is a differenc in weight and that one tire will begin spinning faster than the other (eventually ripping the bike in two). More than anything I think I have just been brainwashed into thinking that if one tire has gone bad the other can't be far behind and I should replace it before it fails mid ride (or creeps up on me in the night and strangles me while I sleep).
