He also never exactly professed to being anti-abortion. he opposed Roe vs. Wade on states rights grounds. You can criticize him for breaking the law, I suppose, but he wasn't professing to be something he wasn't. The quote I really found interesting was his daughter saying how he was a conservative so he opposed government interference in these kinds of things. My has the definition of conservative sure changed. Goldwater was not a conservative by today's definition. He was a libertarian.
