Fuzzy's deleted thread from CB...
Did that thread just get to involved for El Jefe or what? Why did they delete it?
In response to Fus and what we were talking about... I don't call the guy's testimony or conviction into question. I simply state that he's not safely within the fences of the ranch (i.e. "off the ranch") When somebody disagrees with the church leadership and runs into trouble the way he did, they sometimes run the risk of letting that issue drive a wedge between them and the church. I personally think the guy is wrong. I personally think his dismissal (or not being rehired) is appropriate. However, I do not question his dedication or his faith, only his judgement. I hope this one issue does not become an overwhelming stumbling block for him or his testimony may be in trouble.

See my thread as fuz's thread prompted my thoughts.
There is a fine line to walk about disagreeing privately and in public discourse. I wonder what aspect of pride we must overcome.

The guy openly criticized his employer and publicly voiced disapproval of its actions. There is hardly an employment opportunity that wouldn't do the same thing.
The obvious counterpoint is that a university is supposed to be an institution of free thinking, wherein disagreement with the actions of the administration should not result in termination of employment. This shows that the real issue is whether or not a church should try to run a university. And, for the record, I'm glad the church does try. For all the inconsitencies and the other peculiar struggles the church has to endure to run the BYU, there are benefits that could not otherwise come.
