Default Talk about grandstanding and overreaction

in order to find a 16 year old girl and the offspring.

But then again, it's Texas. Does Waco ring a bell?

Seriously?

The faster they can get those kids (under 18's) out of there, the better.

Yes, it strikes me as an abuse of state to take 137 children from their parents.

Imagine if Child Protective Services were told that there was a case of abuse in a small town. Would they remove every child?

What if they were told that there was a case of abuse in a ward? Would they raid everyone in the ward?

Of course not.

Civil liberties. I take it you are not a big proponent.

This was a good, old fashioned sheriff sending a message that these people are not wanted.

That is certainly what it looks like.

I watched the little interview with one of the locals and his thoughts about it and he mentioned that when the FLDS group first moved in, there was a lot of suspicion because they're so secretive, but things had settled down and there was finally some balance in the community. Then this happened. I understood it to mean that he felt the authorities should leave well enough alone.

It really makes me shake my head when I see LDS rejoice at the persecution of the FLDS.

It's fine to be against underage marriage or forced marriage. But some of the hatred goes well beyond that.

I'm with you. Taking small children away from their mothers is wrong - unless the mother is about to hurl them out a window of a hi-rise because the kids get in the way of her social life.

Agreed. Law enforcement is doing this because they can, because they think society doesn't care about these people and their rights. They may be correct.
