Default Nice stage yesterday...

I would have been nice for Zirbel to hold on but it was good to see Hincapie win after coming down from his Discovery high.

By the way if you want to watch a great race go buy the 89 World Championships.

It was a good stage. Gorgeous George is a good guy, has never been thought of otherwsie, adn it is always good to see him do well.

I am still bummed about the state of cycling. Hopefully the UCI will talk some sense in to the TdF. It ouwld be ridiculous to have astana and two of last year's podium fincihers ouot of the tour because other epople no longer associated with the sponsor tested positive. Pro cycling needs to get its act together soon or it will lose all momentum here in the states. I know the rest of the world doens't care about that too much, but it would be a real drag for those of us that do care if the sport faded back to obscurity.

1989 was well before my cycling time, but I YouTubed it and watch the last 10 miles or so. What a great finish. Was it just the World's and the Tour that year, or did Lemond just own Fignon during that time? From my limited exposure to him, he sure seemed like an arrogant guy and I sure was glad to see him get beat.

I am still hopeful that the UCI and the ProTour will quit being such imbiciles and let Astana back in this year. While i couldn't possibly pretend to think that Johan and Co are without blemish, their banishment makes no sense to me. Otherwise, it basically a professional death sentence for Levi, who I think is one of the few clean guys in the peleton.

Actually, it's not UCI, it's ASO that is the problem here.
