Default I think I want Huckabee tomorrow in South Carolina

Not that it makes any difference, but I've been trying to decide what outcome I most want to see between McCain and Huckabee tomorrow. Since I don't like either of them, and since likely all the candidates are in until Feb 5 anyway, the question really becomes about which one will have less appeal on Super Tuesday.

That has to be Huckabee. Thus I hope for a win for him tomorrow in order to let water into McCain's ship. If Huckabee can expose McCain just a little, maybe he'll be damaged goods going into Florida and it will sink him on Feb 5. Conversely, I have a hard time seeing Huckabee, even with a win in SC and a strong finish in Florida, taking many states on Super Tuesday. Thus a 1-2 punch.

And thus, the road could be cleared for one of the other 3. One can only hope.

"Wow" that I would accept Thompson as the candidate?

Wow that you think Thompson has a chance, esp. since you seem to be suggesting a 3rd place finish for Thompson in SC.

Thompson still has a longshot, yes. Probably the worst chance of the 5, but a chance nonetheless.

I didn't imply anything about where Thompson might finish in SC, so I don't know where you got that.

There are only three viable republican candidates right now.

Tex, tell me something. I bet that Michigan is like Washington. The Republicans are so marginalized that a Republican candidate wouldn't in a million years take the state in the general election, and their extreme minority status has made them a little nutty and Jesus freaky such that nobody respects what they say anyway. Am I right? I honestly don't know for sure.

I don't know much about the state of Michigan politics.

Republicans (and I count myself as one most of the time) are having a real identity crisis when the leading contenders in South Carolina are a guy on the right wing fringe and another guy who in early 2001 was widely believed to be preparing to cross the aisle.
