How do sports companies make their political donations?
Here's a chart published this week on political donations. The MLB dollar quantity is no surprise considering recent news. The last one is funny to me.
TOP POLITICAL CONTRIBUTORS IN THE SPORTS INDUSTRY* ORGANIZ. AMT. DEMOC. REPUB. MLB Commish Office $138,750 60% 40% Wasserman Media $109,550 92% 8% NASCAR $65,120 17% 83% Dodgers $48,200 74% 26% NBA $44,250 98% 2% ISC $42,150 70% 30% NHIS $37,200 12% 88% Pirates $35,800 100% 0% Orioles $30,600 100% 0% Don King Productions $30,000 0% 100% NOTES: * = made to parties and candidates for federal offices for the ’08 election cycle.(Sorry for the crazy formatting.)

Sorry the formatting sucks on this. I tried a few ways to get it to look good but failed. Anyway, Calicoug is probably disappointed to be missing out on Don King's support.

Out of curiosity, did you cross check to see how much these same companies donated to Reps? Often, large corps donate to both.

If it were more legible, it would show that the dollar amount is the total, and right of that is the Dem/Rep percentage split.

The companies aren't making donations to individual candidates, rather they are donating to PAC's. Some of the amounts attributed to organizations in ParrotHeads table are a reflection of employees donations' to a particular candidate.

Clearly they are not donating to a specific candidate, as those numbers are way to high for anyone person or corp to donate without violating limits. The Don King number is interesting.
