Bikes at the Lebowski home
Well, it is a happy day. Son #3 is finishing up his eagle project, which signals the end of eagle projects at our house. He decided to do a project related to collecting and fixing up bikes. He sent out fliers in our ward/neighborhood and asked people to donate old bikes that they were no longer using. He then mobilized fellow YM and YM leaders in the ward to refurbish and repair the bikes. He collected 35 bikes. We ended up using six bikes for parts and thus ended up with 29 bikes. Mad Dog Cycles in Orem graciously donated about $200 worth of parts to the cause. Some of the bikes are pretty old, but most are in pretty good shape.
The larger bikes will now be taken to the local juvenile detention center. They will loan the bikes to youths who have part-time jobs and need transportation. The smaller bikes will be given to the Boys' and Girls' Club and will be distributed to low-income children. Hey, I posted in the Cycling category. How about that?
