Avg. speed down 5 mph in 2 years
http://sports.yahoo.com/sc/news;_ylt...v=ap&type=lgns
This article points out that the average speed this year is 5 mph slower than 2005 when LA last won it. That is quite a huge drop. Is it all headwinds?

Did I read that correctly, that the 2005 tour averaged 29.8 for the entire tour? That's crazy.
That's a full our sprint for me on anything but a nice downhill. It takes work to keep 22 and 24 or 25 only happens in a big group. 29.8, what were they smoking? or doping.

So do you think some of those domestiques were dreading the next day when their buddy would take the yellow jersey knowing they had to ride out front doing 30 mph for over 100 miles?
When you hear stuff like that if makes you wonder even more about Armstrong. |

No kidding, and every day for three weeks, and through the alps, etc. No wonder they were tempted to get a little help in recovery.
