Dustin Gabriel's career is over

He was a nice player with a lot of heart, just very injury prone. I hope the best for him. I'm also glad his career didn't end with any more concussions. |

Theoretically, he could get one more year of eligibility, but I wouldn't bank on it.

This is a blessing. God is telling Dustin to take care of his brain. I hope he listens.

Does anyone else occasionally feel a twinge of guilt over supporting a sport that does so much permanent damage to the health of young men? In many cases life-altering? Are we that much better than the Romans?

I would bet that competitive cycling is more dangerous than football, on average.

One reason I quit football is when in junior high, I speared a guy on the ground, and had double vision for about 15 seconds. |

But either way, who watches that?

Oh, and all of Europe and several million Americans watch "that" for 3 weeks every July. |

also, I think the type of recreational rider makes a big difference. If you do a lot of solo training rides on roads with cars, your chances of dying go way up, I bet. Me on the other hand, I almost never ride on non-established bike routes if I'm not in a group. Makes things more boring, but more safe. |
