Default glorified-stake-center temples

How come the church isn't building anymore cheap temples like the one in Dallas?

I just saw a pic of the outside of the Draper Temple.

When I was growing up, the baptismal font in Dallas was adorned in white ceramic, with natural light from the ceiling. It was nice and airy and bright. Now it has no natural light, the walls are that woven fiber brown stuff that is used in some chapels, it is dimly lit. Trust me, there is no feeling of opulence in that room.

Maybe the church decided that these cut-rate temples were a mistake.
