Default The Dark Knight: $314 million in 10 days

19 years ago, Batman became the first film to gross $100 million in only 10 days. The average ticket price then was $3.97, and today is $7.08. In today's dollars, that gross would be $178 million....well short of The Dark Knight.

The Dark Knight is projected to top $400 million in only 18 days, which took the current record-holder Shrek 2 43 days to accomplish.

All-time moneymaker: Titanic, $601 million. ($909 million in today's movie dollars).

All-time moneymaker when adjusted for inflation: Gone With The Wind, $1.431 billion. (Grossed $46.5 million, when ticket prices were 23 cents).
