I asked your question on the local mom's board here, and one thing they mentioned that I hadn't thought of was to make sure you knew how to care for an AA girl's hair and skin. They also directed me to this link

Also, there was a woman on there who was adopted an AA boy and said she would be happy to be contacted with any further questions about their experience.
