How pissed should I be...if at all?
Last week, my rear deraileur went belly up. I took it to Taylors Bike Shop in Taylorsville to have it looked at/repaired etc.
They told me it needed replaced. I have an entry level Navaro Forza road bike. It had entry level shimano components on it I am sure, but the shimano sticker has come off so I can't be sure of what model it was. Anyway, they said they would replace it with a "middle of the road" shimano deraileur. They installed a Shimano Alivio rear deraileur. I looked that up on the shimano web site...and that is a 'mountain bike' component??? What gives? Should I take that right back in and have them put something else on? Does it matter? Seems to work ok...but it doesn't sit right with me? Any advice?

I went to the Taylors bike shop in Provo once. I will never go there again.

I've never heard of mixing components like that before. Seems a bit strange to me. But if it is shifting okay and the shoe fits...

Interesting question. I've never heard of mixing the mountain and road componentry but I don't know why it couldn't work. Your bike likely had Sora before, Alivio is the mountian equivalent of Sora I believe.
