Speeding ticket
I was pulled over for the first time in 12 years.
The pink copy that the officer gave to me says "Complaint - Affidavit" on it, but it is not legible. Obviously he didn't write very firmly with his pen. I can't make out the court date, the officer's name, the ordinance, and so forth. I always thought the first rule of a Complaint was for it to be a plain and simple statement of the cause of action. I have no idea what the crap this paper says. Have I been served with a valid Complaint? Advice? |

The first thing he said to me was that he recognized me as having pulled me over before, and that I was a cop six years ago.
Oh really? Actually I was the last in a line of cars all going the same speed. I asked why my California plates and I were being singled out, and he said no, that I was alone when he saw me, and then he came out from his hiding spot and caught up to me (us). I can't read the location / street name on the complaint. I had just turned onto that road less than a mile earlier. He finished with saying "obviously you aren't going to come back out from California to appear in court, so here is the address where you can mail the payment to." That separate sheet of paper with the mailing address is the only thing legible. |

First Question, were you speeding? If so, pay the ticket.
No further questions.
