I saw it yesterday with my family, and everyone enjoyed it. I liked it a lot, one of Pixar's best, IMO.

well, that was disappointing.
The first half, where there is no dialog was actually pretty good.
After that, the story had serious problems. How did Disney not fix that busted plot? I almost fell asleep at the end.
My rating on a scale of 1 to 10 sheets, 7 sheets.

legend:
1 sheet: very little poo to clean up
10 sheets: lots of poo to clean up

A couple more things about Wall-e:

It seems to be more divisive than the normal Pixar movie. Most people I know think Toy Story was great, and A Bugs Life was good but not up to the level of most of the rest (I know there are some of you out there who hated Toy Story, you don't need to post that just to try to prove me wrong here). I've heard several people say that Wall-e is very sub-par, and several say it is among Pixar's best. I tend to fall into the latter group.

I have to think that the creators of Wall-e spent some time watching old Charlie Chaplin or Buster Keaton movies. There is a lot of physical comedy that is similar, and they were incredibly effective at making a fully formed, lovable character, whose entire vocabulary is about two words.

Lastly, apart from the movie, I think that you almost get your money's worth with the Short that precedes it ("Presto") is excellent. Pixar has put together a lot of great shorts, but I think this one might be the best.

I guess I have different thoughts on what makes a good movie, I thought the short was average and Wall-E was great.

I think so Mike. I can't really think of anything in it that is scary. The closest thing you get to a villain is an futuristic looking boat wheel with a red eye in the middle (what are those things called?) that has a slapstick fight with the captain of the ship towards the end of the movie. I think your boy will enjoy it. Wall-e also gets crushed near the end trying to hold mechanism of some kind open (trying to save a plant, sort of) and they have to fly back to earth to fix him, though he turns out to be just fine.

My 3 year old saw it and loved it. She is fairly easily scared, and while there were a couple of times where she was a little nervous, it was mainly due to wondering if Wall-e was going to be OK, not because of scary bad guys or monsters jumping out or anything like that.
