Ugh. Yngwie is a laughing stock. The only thing he's got going for him is that he can play very fast. Still, he's not the fastest. He's also supremely unimaginative and is painful to listen to. Michael Angelo is faster (and is also painful to listen to), and I forget the guy's name that's supposedly the fastest (who, yes, is also painful to listen to). My favorite combination of chops and creativity is John Petrucci. If you're into the metal style of guitar playing, he's the best. He's faster than Satch than Vai, and writes better melodies IMO (not that I don't love Satch and Vai).

When I was a kid, others sometimes told me this guy was the best/fastest guitarist:

He's indeed awesome; I put him in the same category as Satch and Vai, and not just because he was the original 3rd member of the G3 tour before they started rotating it. I saw that show twice with Satch, Vai, and Petrucci, and it was awesome.

That's a blast from the past. I love that song - hadn't heard it in years.

Any credible discussion has to include Esteban.
