Perhaps this will engender disagreement in the ranks, but
BYU was very unimpressive, and looks to be living on borrowed time.
Nothing good came from this game.

Well, I can't actually see the game, but I'll take a blowout win (I'm not counting the CSU score in garbage time against the backup QB). I'm curious as to what other good you were expecting to come from this game. Collie got involved as well as Reed. The running game was sufficient.

They were sloppy, inefficient at times and the running game didn't actually look that great.
Hall needs to look sharper in future games for us to continue to win.

Hall had easily his best game of the season. Other than 2 fumbles, he looked about as good as we could ever hope for. His rating was about 50 points higher this game than in his best previous game.
Unga still looks good, but we didn't go to him as much. It's clear CSU's strategy was to force us to pass. I was surprised the D gave up so many yards, but they still looked sharp overall. I'm still not a huge fan of the play calling, as there were times when the blitz was obviously on and we didn't have anything to counter it, but I'll still assume that we're just saving the interesting plays for when we need them. The next month should be some good football. |

It seems silly to bring up Max Hall as being one of your biggest concerns after he puts up a 205 rating. If he played every game like this one he'd be winning the Heisman as a sophomore. |

You just described pretty much every win except the home opener in the Staley/Doman year. Although our running game was nice with Staley, almost every other aspect of our team was suspect. This year is more of the same. Luckily we play in the MWC!

The reason the running game didn't look that great is because CSU was trying to take away the run from us and force us to pass (which makes sense if they watched our last 3 games). There's a reason that Max Hall had a PER over 200.
