Default Therefore, if ye have desires to serve God ye are called to the work

I have been thinking about this for awhile and it seems contrary to the whole notion of "if you screw up when you are a teenager you can't go on a mission"

Seems like the number one requirement to serve a mission is desire not sexual purity

Hey man, lighten up on our policy-makers. It's tough when the scriptures get in the way of what they're trying to do.

Maybe they came to the conclusion that many of those who "wish" to serve only do so in theory, and in fact cause huge problems and are impediments to the work.

Also that a too liberal attitude led to YM committing more sins, when they saw their predecessors get away with carousing til the week they left.

I dare bet that the Arkansas Little Rock mission single-handedly forced the church leaders to adopt the raise-the-bar initiative.

There's no scriptural support for this kind of thing. Paul, Alma the Younger, Ammon, these are people who apparently can't get over the bar.

This is funny to me because I had a friend I grew up with who served in the Arkansas Little Rock mission from '83-'85 who has now left the church and is living in Vegas where he lives with a woman who runs one of the various Gentleman's Clubs there.

LOL!

Haven't you read Ute4Ever's stories from his mission? They would make Paris Hilton blush with shame.

There is a difference between being called to the work of God and serving a full-time mission.

This seems to be a case between Idealism and Pragmatism. Idealism usually doesn't come out on top in such clashes.
