How do the rankings change?
Utah should be in the top 25. BYU does not deserve to drop based on the score (even though the win didn't feel very convincing). Pitt is done. Alabama will shoot up. VT will drop. Clemson takes a dive.
Any other thoughts? |

BYU probably won't drop. All most voters will see of the game is 41-17, and that isn't that bad. It's a spread of 24 points, just as expected.

Wasn't the spread 21.5? At least it was earlier in the week. Wonder why what would make it go up throughout the week?

Utah will be in. They were hovering right around 28th or so, so with Pitt losing and an impressive win, they should jump up. BYU will stay at 16.

Michigan, Oregon State, Texas A&M, Mississippi State, and Michigan State are all out of the running for a little bit. The Fresno State/Rutgers game will still have an affect. Tennessee should beat UCLA, so that shouldn't change anything. Louisville-Kentucky and CSU-Colorado don't matter. I expect Utah to come in at #23, and BYU to bump up to #15. The wildcard is how far up Alabama shoots. Also how many votes ECU gets.

Michigan was ranked 24th in the AP poll. Utah will be in the 20s somewhere, BYU won move.

You said it yourself: Utahns are not likely to refrain from voting Republican in significant numbers, even though a woman is on the ticket.

Traditionally the week 2 poll has the most changes of any poll during the season, and many of the winning teams don't stay in the same order behind one another. Alabama will leapfrog BYU, and Kentucky will probably get more votes than TCU.
