are Mormons anti-dog?
So I've never had a dog before. My mom hated pets, so I grew up that way. And now I'm thinking of getting a dog for various reasons. And I've been asking around for input. And trying to think of Mormons I know with dogs. Sure, I know some, but not so much families with kids. And most people I ask say "no way, don't get a dog." Maybe they have too many kids to be worrying about getting a dog?
Just thinking out loud here. And wanting to see at least one thread that isn't about gay marriage et al. |

I have a dog.
Dogs are a lot of work, esp. when young. Also consider vacations, they can be expensive to board. On the other hand, there are many wonderful things about dogs. |

That said, I don't think Mormondom is anti-dog. We just don't elevate them to near human-like status to the extent your average DINK liberal yuppie couple would. But my family had dogs growing up, and plenty of families in my current ward have dogs.

Two sides of the same coin. ANti-dog means, here, choose not to have a dog as pet.

I love when co-workers tell stories about their pets. Few things are more fascinating than a cat story.

Do dog people realize how annoying your barking dogs are? Especially when you're trying to get a baby to go to sleep?

I have a co-worker who has 3 times now referenced the fact that she knows what it is like to get up in the night with a screaming baby (I have a 2 month old) because she has two dogs that sometimes require her to get up early and let them out. |
