Washington kicker speaks...
He basically blows the lower trajectory theory out of the water.

Galloway, megastar on Dallas sports radio, is still talking about the BYU/UW game and how the call was a travesty.
Anyway, he said that on a Big 12 coaches' conference call, every single head coach agreed that the call was correct. And also TCU's Patterson thought the call was correct. He said this with an expression of disbelief. |

Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!! Religion rises inevitably from our apprehension of our own death. To give meaning to meaninglessness is the endless quest of all religion. When death becomes the center of our consciousness, then religion authentically begins. Of all religions that I know, the one that most vehemently and persuasively defies and denies the reality of death is the original Mormonism of the Prophet, Seer and Revelator, Joseph Smith. |

Much of this controversy is about national love for Willingham, something I've never quite understood, and dislike for BYU, something easy to understand. Washington hired Willingham in the first place because Washington would rather be seen as decent and lovable than win. What better opportunity than to upstage ND for decency. Well, Washington got what it wanted. Six richly deserved losing seasons. And Neuheisel has his deserved kama too, apparently. The blocked kick tells the tale of Washington's ineptitude and poor coaching.

In summary, racism, sexism, junk science, and false pride, including an undeserved "national championship" in 1984 that changed the course of NCAA history. Take your pick. It's all probably a factor. BYU is not a beloved institution. Had the tables been turned I guarantee the pundits would all be saying, "BYU, quit your whining. BYU is the biggest bunch of whiners. The kick would have been blocked anyway."
