In addition, the LDS Church shared this news Tuesday in a letter to organizers of group called Ordain Women. They had asked for tickets to the priesthood session at the Conference Center in downtown Salt Lake City.

"Tickets for the priesthood session are reserved for men and young men," church spokeswoman Ruth Todd wrote, "and we are unable to honor your request for tickets or admission."

The church’s primary goal, Todd writes, is that "the priesthood session will strengthen the men and young men, including fathers and sons, and give them the opportunity to gather and receive instructions related to priesthood duties and responsibilities."

However, Todd writes, "we welcome you to view the live priesthood session broadcast."

When asked whether the Ordain Women movement had prompted the church to broadcast the males-only session, Todd said in a statement that "broadcasting the priesthood session over the Internet and on BYUtv is simply another step in reaching a worldwide audience in a way that makes sense in a global church."

Ordain Women organizers have not yet offered a response.
Ice cream shops everywhere are going to take a big hit due to this!
