Default Most oppose closing Gitmo

USA Today/Gallup:

Quote:
Americans are overwhelmingly opposed to closing the detention center for suspected terrorists at Guantanamo Bay and moving some of the detainees to prisons on U.S. soil, a USA TODAY/Gallup Poll finds.

By more than 2-1, those surveyed say Guantanamo shouldn't be closed. By more than 3-1, they oppose moving some of the accused terrorists housed there to prisons in their own states.

...

In the survey, Americans were inclined to accept the argument by Cheney and former president George W. Bush that the detention center had made the United States safer. By 40%-18%, they said the prison had strengthened national security rather than weakened it.

Again, with the non sequiturs.

Awesome, I think the stock market corrected itself. I need to check my TSP's performance.

Then what is your point? Is this or is this not an issue that should be decided based on public opinion polls? If it is, what conclusion should we draw? If it isn't, then so what?

Tex's favorite tracking poll indicates Obama is doing really well (which I think means the stock market has ratified his decision to close Gitmo- right Tex?). Only Tex knows.

I thought the point was obvious: closing Gitmo is politically unpopular.

Whether closing Gitmo is right or wrong is an entirely separate question.

So you just want people to know it isn't popular for the sake of knowing it isn't popular?

You are the master of telling people information that is of no practical use.
