found a fellow traveler sitting
right in my ward, he was reading his Hellenistic histories, together with some works on Gadamer. Who'd a thunk it?

OK, Archaea, in order for me to try to keep up with you, what would you suggest that a novice like me read to start down the road of Hellenistic studies?

If you carefully observe, I have found, for every door that closes, multiples doors will open.

I would recommend you start with some of the historians such as Herodotus, Thucydides or Plutarch. You may also wish to start with Greek philosophies. The Greeks started systematizing Greek knowledge, as opposed to topical assortments of knowledges as done by the Egyptians.
