Default Matchups that kill BYU...

1.) Teams with exceptional athleticism. Penetration can kill BYU. However, in addition to the ability there must also be a style that encourages it.

2.) Teams with bigs that can shoot. BYU can handle penetration better if Trent is now out on the perimeter guarding a big who can hit the open 3. In fact if your recall last year it was when those freaking Xavier bigs started draining 3's that Lavendar began to make Austin Ainge look silly.

A team without any athleticism and no big that can shoot, can we dial up Utah for the first round game?

Honestly, BYU would compete much better with a Butler, save that freshman big can get hot, than an Arizona. Arizona's athleticsm scares me more than Butler's execution.

simple questions for you.

1. Do you consider Curtis Terry to have "exceptional athleticism"?

2. Did the matchup on Curtis Terry hurt us?

Terry played harder. Our players, save Jimmer, played soft. It was disappointing to see Trent go soft.

Yes. Terry is very athletic. He is also tall and long so he doesn't need as much space when he has 4 inches on the guy covering him.

Yes the matchup with Terry hurt. But it hurts more when a team has 4 guys that can take BYU off the dribble. LoWade and Giddens are better athletes than Terry, but BYU can better neutralize those by putting Lee on them and forcing the other players to kill BYU off the dribble.

What bothers me is that BYU really has no half court offense which consistently gets players facing the iron and cutting toward it. Something Majerus teams mastered. One of the reasons Plaisted plays soft, is it may be against his nature, but the offense doesn't seem designed to do that.

No. You could probably take him.
