Tafuna out for the season
Dustin Gabriel's backup..David Tafuna out for the season with the same injury that knocked out Cade Cooper...another Lisfranc thingamabob.
5 BYU players out for the year due to injuries and camp is just almost half over: Dustin Gabriel, Russell Tialavea, JJ DiLuigi, Jadon Wagner and David Tafuna. Good hell.

Fowler is Gooch's main backup....and Hodgkiss has a lot of time in the system. My guess is Jordan Pendleton is the starter before the season is over. In my opinion he was our best defensive recruit signing this past Feb.

As far as a talent drop off from Tafuna to the next guy, the level of impact is minimal. Tafuna is solid in run support, fair in pass coverage. He's gotten better since his freshman year, but I feel more comfortable with Hodgekiss back there than Tafuna anyways. Don't take this as me saying that I'm glad Tafuna is hurt; I'm not. It hurts our depth and I don't like seeing any BYU player get hurt.
Hopefully Pendelton is as big of a stud as some are making him out to be. Having a big, fast and talented safety back there would be a big boost for BYU, especially somebody that can come in and contribute somewhat unexpectedly. |

Not going to forget about Pendleton....I'll bank money on it, that he's a regular contributor on D by the end of the season.

Rocky is right for once, Pendelton is legit, the kid is big, strong, and fast. He is a physically intimidating safety and he is a true freshman. He will get some serious playing time this year especially with all hte injuries.

It's more if you count Spring ball. Chris Warner (another safety) suffered a season ending injury also. Any others?

Aaron Francisco proved it is possible.

Even if he had been, it wouldn't have mattered. Pendleton will be getting significant PT before the year is over.
