Harry Potter - no spoiler
So I spent twelve hours yesterday with Harry Potter.
I highly recommend. |

Good to know about the thumbs up from you. I'm waiting for both kids to be asleep at the same time to start it.
Hasn't happened yet. |

Am I in the minority in that I've never picked up a Harry Potter book, let alone read one and have never seen a Harry Potter movie?

I definitely enjoyed the finale and I do recommend. I think, however, that book 7 is my least favorite of the series. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed it quite a bit, but I don't think it is near as fun as the first couple of books.

That surprises me considering your love of the Classics.
Rowling infuses her work with Latin incantations and Classical allusions. It's unusual for such a pop-phenom set of works to be so well-written and well-constructed. |

My brother (6 yrs younger than me) had the same attitude as you, until he came to live with us a couple of summers ago for a law internship. He was determined to avoid the Harry Potter phenomenon, until I convinced him to just try the first one. He grudgingly admitted he liked them and read the whole available series in a matter of weeks. |

I disagree. I liked this one.
I like the Latin incantations and classical references.
