Matthew fits the bill. He was a tax collector.

Hugh B. Brown? He's been dead for over 30 years. As for Jesus, I'm not sure. I haven't met him.

Wasn't Matthew a tax collector? That'd make him a Democrat.

Luke. Some have argued with me, but if you read his Gospel he didn't like rich people. [Note to detractors: FDR worked for his $ too]

But Luke may have been a physician and most physicians are Republican.

Matthew as a tax collector was definitely a Democrat.

I could make a pretty good case that the writer of Luke passes muster for a first century feminist, and I could draw some not-completely-wacko conjecture that Luke may have been written by a woman. Consider the emphasis on babies moving in the womb, the focus on Mary's tribulations, the more extended accounts of Mary and Martha, the concern for mothers and women in general...

But those are also reason to conjecture that the author was a physician.
