Vasectomy
Anyone know why vasectomy is "discouraged" according to the handbook?

I had never heard that is was. I hope this is a relic. I plan to get one when we are done having kids. Much less invasive than my wife going under the knife. I bet lots of guys around here have had it done.

I've had it done, and you're right, it's a simple procedure. In and out in half an hour. You'll walk funny for a day or two and have to get used to the sight of your boys being black and blue and swollen for a couple of weeks, but other than that it's a piece of cake.

I guess you have to define for yourself how important the topic is if it's only "discouraged". Me singing solos in Sacrament Meeting is also "discouraged".

Right. Tattoos are also "discouraged", as is multiple ear-piercings. I'm pretty sure no one's eternal salvation is jeopardized by not adhering to any of these discouragements.
