Default Ballard and Cook on Nightline

A decent feature, more or less, despite the fact that the apostles are chopped up into 15-second bits. That first snippet that makes Ballard look like a witchdoctor doing a rain dance was a little gratuitous, but I think the other bites were pretty good.

That's funny--some of the stock footage contained a member of my stake, but it looks like the footage was from 10 to 15 years ago.

The Sealing Room is sacred but not too sacred for a political question. Is there room in Mormon theology for gay partners, shared health and death benefits and protection from discrimination?

"There is some very careful study, very careful evaluation being made, as to what would be appropriate and what isn't doctrinally," Ballard answers. "But if anything interferes with the basic fundamental principle of marriage being between man and a woman, doctrinally we're locked in. We don't have the capacity to call upon God and tell him to change his mind, that he made a mistake."

I didn't realize temple recommends in Utah are now laminated.

I have no idea what it means. Maybe they read my critique of their press release, and went back to the drawing board after deciding, just maybe, using a grandson's freshman term paper wasn't the best idea after all.

Yes, I'm sure that's what happened.

Tex, I am surprised you are criticizing Elder Ballard for citing an example of his ability to command the elements, or rather his ability to ask the Lord to command the elements. There are many recorded instances of such things happening.

I personally have prayed to find misplaced objects of importance. And have found them. But I've also not found some. Many, actually. I tend not to cite the times I didn't find them. Actually, I don't really cite either.

I wasn't criticizing Ballard, but ABC News.

oh yeah, forgot. anti-Mormon media will just cherry pick the miracles Ballard cited, and choose the one that makes him look like, what did you say, a witch doctor? Surely there are more appealing miracles Elder Ballard cited they could have chosen.

These two, btw, look very corporate, very severe, and very cocky. Making it rain. Defeating Prop 8. And very white.

I dare say GBH, with his folksy humor, is sorely missed in situations like this. GBH could make a rabbi laugh at a concentration camp joke (not that he would tell one).
