Default Packers-Cowboys rivalry

I love the idea of the Packers-Cowboys rivalry being back. But I wish the Packers had won tonight. I saw the ice bowl when I was eight and it remains an indelible memory. I'm not sure I fully appreciated what competitive sports was all about until I saw that game. I was only eight but I was balling on that last drive; tears of fear until Bart Starr went over from the 1, then it was tears of joy. My little head nearly exploded. Damnit I wish the Packers had won tonight.

That's a great story. The emotional investment of a child can be pretty touching.

I loved the Packers, Lombardi, Paul Hornung, Bart Starr, etc., when I was a kid. I was nine when I read Jerry Kramer's football memoir, Instant Replay, and Lombardi's, Run to Daylight.

Though I'm a Cowboys fan, Lombardi has one of my all time favorite quotes.

Something about one's finest moment being when you've exhausted all of your efforts and lay there on the field victorious.

The old NFL Films stuff of Lombardi and Hank Stram on the sideline are pure comedy gold.
