Alberto Gonzalez / Writ of Habeus Corpus
I'm no attorney, but I do remembering studying the Constitution in school......yeah I think he's pretty much up in the night here.
http://thinkprogress.org/2007/01/19/gonzales-habeas/ Having said that I wonder if he's referring to non-citizen/military combatants as those who don't have the right or if he just means in general, cause clearly the Attorney General looks VERY bad and ignorant in this exchange.

That is frightening and shocking. Either Gonzalez is woefully ignorant or he is supplying grist for the rumor mills about Dick Cheney's view of the supreme presidency. If he really believes this then heaven help us.

I don't think constitutional protections apply to the terrorists/enemy combatants at Gitmo who are non-citizens and non-residents of the United States, but to say that the constitution doesn't guarantee habeas corpus is just ridiculous. I'm shocked that he holds this view - if in fact he does. His comments seriously bring my lukewarm support for this administraion down a few notches.

Is there anything Tex won't try to defend from this administration?
http://www.cougarboard.com/noframes/...tml?id=2445504 I would think this thread ends all disputes. |
